You need to apply to get a MSP practitioner number if you have never billed in BC before. This number enrolls you in MSP. Once you’re enrolled, you’ll be given a 5 digit number that stays with you throughout your practice. This is the number that colleagues will use as your referring practitioner number.

Please note: Your MSP practitioner number it is not your CPSID Number. New physicians commonly make this mistake. You cannot submit billings without a MSP practitioner number.

You need to choose either ‘Opted-in or Opted-out.’ Opted-in means you’ll bill MSP directly, and opt-out means you’ll bill your patient directly. (If you’re working Fee-For-Service and submitting claims then choose opted-in).
