00082 – Billable for Exclusive Bedside Monitoring of an unstable patient.  Doctor must be fully beside and monitoring body systems.

NOT PAYABLE WHEN:

  1. Arranging transfers

  2. Managing family members of the patient

  3. Discussion with other health care professionals or arranging investigations.

CALL OUTS/CONTINUING CARE: are not billable with this fee code.

MANDATORY E-NOTE - must be concise and helpful if under 20 characters, for electronic ease of payment.  E-NOTE: Must Indicate – what body system were being monitored, must be for total bedside monitoring .

E-note Example.“1600-1630 – respiratory, lungs, 1630-1700 – cardiac, vitals” (so MSP pays both units) of remaining bedside.

Common reason for rejections:

  1. E-note contains information that conflicts with the nature of bedside assistance

  2. Billed with continuing care or call out

TIP: Often physicians comment about arranging transfers, or discussion with colleagues, or ordering of tests. This is NOT billable for continuous bedside since your focus is not directly on the patient. These statements should be avoid.
